Literature Text

she epitomized poetry.
or at least the stereotype
people had of it. she was
a tortured soul that had
seen more than it should've
by the time she took her
life, why did she leave?
effervescent words, so heavy,
dense, senseless violence
inked the very pages that
inspired me. and half a
century has now gone by
she hasn't walked this earth
and i still wonder what
would be going on in her
head if she'd walked a little
farther in her own shoes
instead of living vicariously
through basket cases, sylvia,
you had so much life left
in you, why did you solidify
that poets have the highest
suicide rate in the literary
business? you could've been
a legend, now you're just
a name that frequents english
books and the occasional
slam poem as this, but what
would've happened if you
didn't do what you did? would
you still be the composition-
page martyr that took her life
after her art did its job?
sylvia, what if i were to be
like you, what if i gave up
that easily, i know you gave
it quite some time, thought,
effort that could've went into
your poems, but you are gone.
fifty years, a lifetime, all
encompassed behind the tormented
eyes of a young blossomed
writer who will forever be
immortalized with depression,
is that how you wanted to go?
you had to see this coming.
i wonder if you're watching now.
an homage to the wonderful ms. plath. her life was cut too short.

I'm really jealous of how well you really express yourself, and your thoughts; it really does seem to me like it's effortlessly; while I'm okay, but I think I struggle to really make sure I put all of myself in my poems.
Just saying.
